Dr. Oostema is associate professor of emergency medicine and director of neurological emergency medicine research at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He earned a medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed an emergency medicine residency with Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners. Dr. Oostema currently practices Emergency Medicine at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids and Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Hospital in rural Newaygo County. Dr. Oostema’s research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of transient ischemic attack and stroke, as well as prehospital medicine and the application of research evidence to clinical practice.
