Janis P. Tupesis, MD moderated the opening session of ACEP 2020 this morning after NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci kicked off the annual conference of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
The panel, titled “Lessons Learned: Global Response to COVID-19,” consisted of global health experts from North and South America, Africa, and Europe who examined the impact, lessons learned, and future outlook for COVID-19 in their countries, regionally, and globally. Dr. Tupesis led the discussion as Chair of the ACEP Section on International Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Tupesis is a BerbeeWalsh Emergency Department physician and associate director of the UW-Madison Global Health Institute. He is also a faculty co-advisor for the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s engagement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Engineers Without Borders, and other partners focusing on facilitating capacity building and systems strengthening work around COVID-19 response in low and middle-income countries.
