Michael Pulia MD MS, Director of Emergency Medicine Antimicrobial Stewardship for UW Health, has partnered with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Director of Antibiotic Stewardship, Dr. Barry Fox, to improve antibiotic prescribing in urgent care clinics and emergency departments throughout the state.
On this opportunity, Dr. Pulia commented, “Given the anticipated acceleration of bacterial resistance due to increased antibiotic use during the pandemic, it is more important than ever to work towards improving antibiotic stewardship in acute care settings. I look forward to working with Dr. Fox on stewardship initiatives that account for the work systems and clinical concerns of front line providers, especially as they confront the challenge of COVID-19.”
