Focus on POCUS: Ultrasound for the Acutely Ill Patient

Course overview: Learn point of care ultrasound from faculty experts in “Focus on POCUS: Ultrasound for the Acutely Ill Patient.” This two-day, immersive course will feature didactics, integrative case-based learning, and expert-guided, small group hands-on scanning skills practice with a low student-to-instructor ratio for optimal impact.
- Learn how point of care ultrasound can help identify causes of shock states and respiratory failure
- Develop skills in ultrasound image acquisition and interpretation for cardiac, lung, venous, abdominal, soft tissue and musculoskeletal structures
- Learn how POCUS can safely guide central line and peripheral IV placements and arthrocentesis
- CME credits are available for Physicians & Advanced Practice Providers

*This course may be eligible as an “alternative pathway” toward requirements to earn the SHM-Chest Point-of-Care Ultrasound Certificate of Completion (COC) from by the Society of Hospital Medicine. Please review the program outline in full on the SHM website to determine eligibility.
