Therese McHenry, executive assistant in the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine, earned the prestigious Robert A. Alesch Award, which goes to volunteers who have served in multiple Partners in Giving leadership roles over an extended period.

Therese is renowned for her passionate and innovative work with the Partners in Giving campaign in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, as well as years she spent volunteering for the campaign when she was with the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at UW-Madison.

This award was presented at the Volunteer Awards and Recognition banquet at Union South to recognize those who contributed to the success of the 2023 campaign.

Partners in Giving is an annual, volunteer-run campaign for the State of Wisconsin, university, and UW Health employees in Dane County to make contributions to the charity or charities or their choice. The program has donated over $87 million since its commencement in 1973.

In a statement made at the awards banquet, Partners in Giving Administrative Board Co-Chair Tamara C. Kuhn Martin expressed that “No matter what levels we work at, this campaign brings us all together to help greater causes beyond ourselves.” The fall 2023 campaign pledged nearly $2 million for local to international charities thanks to the work of over 4,000 volunteers.
