Ultrasound Division has successful weekend in Nashville, TN at national ultrasound conference

The Division of Ultrasound faculty and fellows held several lectures at the Society of Clinical Ultrasound’s (SCUF) Annual Meeting this past weekend, hosted by Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Presentations by the group are as follows:

Dr. Sara Damewod gave an annual update for the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Accreditation Council (EUFAC) as its inaugural Chair.

Dr. Jessica Schmidt gave a lecture on “Building a Global Ultrasound Program: Challenges and Considerations.”

Ultrasound Fellows Dr. Kevin McConkey and Dr. Justin Purnell were selected to participate in the Fellow Lightning Talks competition, an amazing opportunity to present a five-minute talk to the SCUF community. Only eight speakers were selected to present from ultrasound fellowships nationwide, and Dr. McConkey’s presentation was chosen as the winner based on relevance and value, novelty, content knowledge, a clear takeaway, and communication style.

  • Kevin McConkey, MD: “Ultrasound for Giant Cell Arteritis”
  • Justin Purnell, MD, MMS: “Is it time to replace the ONSD? The ONSD/ETD Ratio”
