UW Health Primary Paramedic Course now accepting applications

The UW Health Emergency Education Center (EEC) provides training in the areas of emergency and medical care. From CPR courses to advanced life support courses to prehospital education and EMS liaisons, the Emergency Education Center supports health professional education and training needs throughout the region.

UW Health’s Primary Paramedic Program provides learners with a comprehensive introduction to paramedic care. The program covers patient assessment, personal safety and well-being, emergency pharmacology, medication administration, anatomy and physiology, various medical emergencies and care for trauma patients. Through didactic and clinical experiences, students will develop their advanced level care and management of the sick and injured.

Graduates of the program will possess the skills of an entry-level paramedic and will be eligible for a career in emergency medical services, interfacility transport, hospitals or clinics. Prerequisites for consideration of entry to the program are current CPR certification and Wisconsin EMT or AEMT licensure. For more information, visit uwhealth.org/paramedic-program.

Applications are open for the next paramedic program beginning September 5, 2023. This will be a hybrid course with in-person sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Applications will be accepted from Feb. 1–April 15, 2023.

The paramedic program of the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
