Fifteen new faculty physicians and advanced practice providers will join the Department of Emergency Medicine between July and October 2024. They come to the department from more than ten U.S. states spanning the Southwest to the Northeast and bring a wide range of experience with them, including specialty expertise in pediatrics, global health, simulation, clinical informatics, flight medicine, and more.

Colleen Andrews, MD, MPH
Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine
Dr. Andrews joins the Division of Global Health on July 1, 2024. She attended the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed her emergency medicine residency and chief residency at Stroger Hospital of Cook County. She then pursued fellowship training in global and local health equity at Boston Medical Center, with a focus on immigrant/refugee health and women’s health.
While at the UW SMPH, Dr. Andrews completed the Training in Urban Medicine and Public Health (TRIUMPH) program, which integrates community, clinical, and public health skill development for medical students dedicated to working in underserved communities. |

Jillian Gorski, MD, MS
Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine & Pediatrics
Dr. Gorski joins the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine on August 1, 2024. She attended the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed her pediatrics residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She then pursued fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at Northwestern Medicine/Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Gorski obtained her master’s degree in data science at Indiana University. Her interests include clinical mastery, AI in healthcare, and the use of informatics to transform clinical care. |

Joe-Ann Moser, MD, MS
Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine
Dr. Moser attended the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she also completed her emergency medicine residency. She then pursued fellowship training in residency education scholarship at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics before joining the department as Assistant Residency Program Director on July 1, 2024. Dr. Moser is a passionate advocate of medical education on a national level; she currently serves as Director of Education for the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA). Her research interests include curriculum design and minimizing trainee and faculty burden to improve wellness. |

Kyle Schoppel, MD
Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine & Pediatrics
Dr. Schoppel joins the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine on October 1, 2024. He attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his pediatrics residency and chief residency at UMass Medical School. Dr. Schoppel then pursued fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at Boston Medical Center before serving as a clinical assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine/Riley Hospital for Children. His clinical and research interests include medical simulation, point-of-care ultrasound, and medical education. |

Natalie J Tedord, MD, MSPH
Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine & Pediatrics
Dr. Tedford joins the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine on July 1, 2024. She attended the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, where she earned a medical humanities scholarly concentration. Dr. Tedford completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, graduating from the Pediatric Global Health Track and serving as Lead Resident for Advocacy during her final year. She then completed her combined four-year fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine and global health at the University of Utah and Primary Children’s Hospital, where she also earned her master of science degree in public health – health promotion from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. |

Jesús Treviño, MD, MBA
Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine
Dr. Treviño joins the department on July 1, 2024. He obtained his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 2014 while attending Harvard Medical School. Following his emergency medicine residency at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Treviño was an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. He also served as Director of the George Washington University Center for Injury Prevention & Control, where he implemented a health informatics approach to injury prevention research. Dr. Treviño is also passionate about medical education and healthcare administration. |

Dr. Andersen attended the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed his emergency medicine residency and chief residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He also serves as medical director for the Waukesha Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. |

Bryce Taylor, DO, MS
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Taylor joins the Division of Prehospital Medicine on July 1, 2024, as a part-time flight physician with UW Health Med Flight. Dr. Taylor attended the Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at the Carilion Clinic at Virginia Tech, where he flew with the Life-Guard aeromedical service. Before joining as faculty, Dr. Taylor completed a retrieval and critical care transport fellowship with UW Med Flight from July 2023 to June 2024. |

Andrea Weitz, MD, MPH
Clinical Instructor
Dr. Weitz joins the department on October 1, 2024. She obtained her medical degree at Trinity College Dublin and completed her emergency medicine residency at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She then pursued her master’s of public health at the University of Southern California. Dr. Weitz was born in Seattle, but has lived all over the world, including Australia, New York City, Milan, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Dublin, Fukuoka and Salt Lake City, Utah. She is passionate about global health, surgical critical care, animal rehabilitation, and the use of drone technology to support medical practice in low resource settings. |

Laura joins the department on August 5, 2024. She obtained her bachelor of science degree with a concentration in neuroscience at The Pennsylvania State University. Following the completion of her master of physician assistant studies at Salus University in 2022, Laura worked at Froedtert Hospital and Medical College of Wisconsin-affiliated emergency departments. |

Stacy joins the department on August 5, 2024. She obtained her bachelor of science degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Following the completion of her master of physician assistant studies at the University of Colorado Hospital in 2020, Stacy worked in orthopedics at Mercyhealth Hospital in Janesville, Wis., and neurosurgery at the John H. Stroger, Jr Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. |

Lauren joins the department on September 9, 2024. She obtained her bachelor of science degree in biomedical sciences at Minnesota State University. Lauren undertook her master of physician assistant studies at South College Nashville, where she completed a capstone research project on the “Impact of Hormonal Contraceptives on Depression Development Pathology.” |

Jeffrey joins the department on October 7, 2024. Jeffrey obtained his bachelor of science degree in microbiology and a minor in 2D studio artwork at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed his master of physician assistant studies at Baylor College of Medicine, where he worked at both Level I and Level III regional trauma centers prior to joining UW Health. |
