The BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine is led by Dr. Manish N. Shah, who has served as chair since 2022.

Manish Shah, MD, MPH, is The Azita G. Hamedani Distinguished Chair of Emergency Medicine and chair of the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine. He joined UW in 2015 as vice chair of research before becoming department chair.

An accomplished and nationally renowned geriatric emergency medicine researcher, Dr. Shah is a professor of emergency medicine with appointments in population health sciences and geriatrics, and currently holds leadership roles with the Wisconsin Partnership Program and UW Center for Health Disparities Research.
