Do you have an area of clinical interest, and how did you get into it? I am excited about using data science and artificial intelligence to improve equity in care for children treated in the emergency department. My academic work is dedicated to eliminating health disparities, optimizing emergency department and prehospital operational efficiency, and exploring the role of AI in medical and surgical triage.

I developed my passion for data science as a Shapiro summer research scholar with the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine while I was a medical student at the UW–Madison and have since gone on to pursue further training in clinical research, data science and clinical informatics.

What attracted you to UW–Madison? I grew up in the Madison area and was excited to give back to the community that raised me! I was also drawn to the culture of excellence at the UW and Department of Emergency Medicine, as well as the opportunities to collaborate with other cutting-edge researchers at the university.

What do you hope trainees will learn from you and your work? I hope trainees feel empowered to learn to develop independent statistical and coding skills, as well as leverage artificial intelligence to tackle issues that they are passionate about.

My most unusual job: “Cave tour guide” at nearby Cave of the Mounds Natural National Landmark in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin.

What are some things you are excited to do/visit/try, being back into the Madison area? My family and I love exploring local and regional parks. We also love going to the Dane County Farmers’ Market on the Capitol Square, trying out new brunch spots, and running and biking in the Madison area.
