EDUCATION

Dr. Michels completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of South Dakota. He then moved to California to complete his residency in emergency medicine at Stanford University, where he also served as chief resident. While at Stanford, Dr. Michels was awarded Chief Resident of the Year from the Emergency Medicine Residents Association (EMRA) and Robert L. Norris Outstanding Leadership Award in Emergency Medicine from Stanford University. He also served on the Board of Directors for the California section of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM). Dr. Michels currently serves as an Alternate Councilor for the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Section.
Dr. Michels’ professional interests include department operations, interdepartmental collaboration, resident education, and pediatric emergencies.
