Dr. Lai is a part-time faculty physician at the University Hospital emergency department. A native of New York City, he graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor of science in biological sciences and a minor in education, and he completed his medical school training at Stony Brook University. Dr. Lai completed his residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Wisconsin and a subsequent two-year medical education fellowship with the department. He also worked as a flight physician with the UW Health Med Flight helicopter EMS program.

Dr. Lai’s academic interests include medical student education, resident education, simulation, ultrasound, and patient safety.
