Dr. Joe-Ann Moser serves as Assistant Program Director for the residency program and Director of Resident Evaluation and Assessment. She leads resident assessment and feedback efforts, chairing the Clinical Competency and Academic Improvement committees. She also directs resident research and oversees Evidence-Based Updates, the department’s bimonthly journal club.

Dr. Moser earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a master’s in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a year of respiratory virus research at the National Institutes of Health. She received her medical degree with distinction in medical education and global health and completed emergency medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She went on to complete a fellowship in education scholarship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is currently pursuing a master’s in health professions education at the University of Illinois Chicago.

Dr. Moser serves as site lead for “Electronic Health Record Data for Assessment of Residents’ Clinical Efficiency,” a project funded by the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Foundation. She previously received SAEM Foundation funding as principal investigator for “Non-Promotable Task Completion by Academic Emergency Medicine Junior Faculty.”

Nationally, Dr. Moser currently serves as Vice-President for the Academy of Women in Academic Emergency Medicine, or AWAEM, an SAEM academy. She previously served a two-year term as Director of Education for the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association.
