Dr. Micah Long is a critical care anesthesiologist at UW Health and an associate professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Medicine at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Long provides care for patients undergoing surgery in the operating room, as well as for those who are critically ill and require support in the Trauma and Life Support Center (TLC) or other University Hospital intensive care units.
Dr. Long is highly committed to his patients and has focused his career on training future physicians to care for the acutely sick, particularly in crisis situations. He is the fellowship director for critical care anesthesiology at the UW Hospitals and Clinics, has created student and fellow clerkships, and has experience developing simulation programs and other teaching curricula. Dr. Long routinely lectures at the national and regional levels and is passionate about managing shock and is an expert in point-of-care ultrasonography and echocardiography to manage heart and lung dysfunction.
