Dr. Wubben is a clinical professor in the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 1997 and went on to complete an emergency medicine residency at Indiana University. As part of his residency experience, he trained as a flight physician with the IU Helicopter EMS flight program.

After a stint in private practice in North Carolina, he returned to the University of Wisconsin in 2004, working in both the ED and UW Health Med Flight. From 2008-2018, he served as the medical director for UW Health Med Flight before moving into the new role as division chief for prehospital medicine in the fall of 2018. He works primarily as a flight physician with Med Flight and is the medical director of the UW Athletic Department EMS program that serves Camp Randall and the Kohl Center. Dr. Wubben also served as president of the Air Medical Physician Association from 2020-2022.

His interests include prehospital and critical care transport, HEMS/aeromedical, global health and emergency medicine in the developing world. Dr. Wubben was involved in the University of Wisconsin-Addis Ababa University “Twinning Project” between 2006 and 2012, helping to develop emergency medicine at Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He also served a core management member of the UW-Ethiopia Twinning Partnership with Addis Ababa University.

Dr. Wubben has also played an integral role in the School of Medicine and Public Health admissions process, serving as Vice Chair for the Non-Resident Admissions Committee, Chair of the Non-Resident Admissions Committee, and a member of the UW SMPH Admissions Executive Committee.
